Kamal's fan trouble
Thursday, May 8, 2008
Between the superstars there is a race for who has more number of fan clubs and does more social work. And when the star gets old and decides to join politics, these fan clubs are useful to garner votes. And in a state which had the maximum number of chief ministers from tinsel town, all actors with political ambitions form fan clubs. Most of these clubs are used to create hype and hoopla around a star when his film releases, and also for aaratis’ and paalabhishekam to be conducted on his cut-outs. Today, lakhs are spent on this garish display of fan frenzy. However it has also brought trouble for the stars as fan clubs have become like political parties. Last week, a press note was circulated stating that three members from the Tamizhaga Kamal Haasan Narpani Iyakkam (Kamal Haasan Tamil Nadu Fans' Association) had been expelled and relieved of the posts held by them. The press note did not say why they were sacked.
