Vijay is playing Asin’s Kavalkaran (Bodyguard) in Siddique directed remake of the Malayalam hit Bodyguard.

The shoot of the film has started from Monday in Kumbakonam.

Once again Vijay has preferred to take an old super hit MGR- Jayalalitha film Kavalkaran (1967), as the title for his new film. After Vettaikaran Vijay is using an MGR title again, as he believes that it has tremendous recall value among the masses.

However the title is appropriate as Vijay, a happy go lucky youth is appointed by Raj Kiran a local toughie to be his daughter Asin’s bodyguard when she goes to college. The enemies of Raj Kiran want to eliminate his daughter and our hero turns out to be her Kavalkaran!

South industry beautiful actress Asin, who entered kollywood with ‘M Kumaran, S/o Mahalakshmi’, has done many super hit films in Tamil such as ‘Varalaru’, ‘Ghajini’, ‘Pokkiri’, ‘Azhwar’. And she did her last film with Kamal Haasan in ‘Dasavataram’ in Tamil.

Later, this keralite beauty went to bollywood and got a break with Hindi version of ‘Ghajini’. And then, her next film ‘Bombay Dreams’ was bombarded at the box-office. From, then her career in bollywood has been coming down.

Now, again she is back into kollywood with Siddique’s ‘Bodyguard’ remake opposite Vijay. But she did not reduce her remuneration though she is not having much offers coming her way. In fact, she has increased her remuneration and demanded for 2 crores to act in Siddique’s movie. This remuneration would make her the highest paid Tamil movie actress.

Asin in Vijay's 50th film

Southern siren Asin, who is wrongly rumoured to have lost touch with the South while making waves in Bollywood, made an announcement that proves she is still a southerner at heart. Recently, Asin stated that she had been asked to act alongside Vijay in his 50th film; she said she will consider it and will give a "positive" answer. Vijay and Asin have a special onscreen chemistry and their previous films together - Pokkiri and Sivakasi - were big hits. At present, Vijay is acting in Villu directed by Prabhu Deva; Villu is a remake of Hindi blockbuster Soldier. Asin is currently awaiting the release of Ghajini in Hindi. Plans are to make Vijay's 50th film grander. Rumour mill says this film might be directed by his father S.A. Chandrasekhar, which is denied by many industry sources.
