Saturday, February 27, 2010

The 55th Annual Filmfare Awards was presented on the 27th of February, 2010. The 55th Annual Filmfare Awards 2009-2010 was hosted by Saif Ali Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

This year's nominations were some big names like Anurag Kashyap’s Dev D, Rajkumar Hirani’s Three Idiots and Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey for their best director performance and films.

So who was the winner? Who was the looser? Who got the most filmfare awards? Check out the photos, winners of Filmfare awards of 2009-2010 right here..

Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan were awarded the Best Actor (Male) and Best Actor (Female) trophy respectively for their remarkable performances from the same film Paa at the 55th Idea Filmfare Awards 2009.

Sri Devi and Boney Kapoor presented the Best Actress Award to Vidya balan for Paa . An elated Vidya Balan commented, “From nariyal to this Black lady, it’s been a great journey at the Filmfare”. This was a smart retort to the same hosts Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan who had pulled a gag on her at the Filmfare Awards, couple of years back. SRK had sarcastically presented Vidya a trophy which they called was the Naa-real Award (meaning not real) for her dressing sense. Vidya Balan was nominated in the Best Actor (Female) category that year (2007) for Bhool Bhullaiyya .

Continuing her thanksgiving speech Vidya said, “I thank Balki (director), my parents and Arundhati Nag. Also I would like to add that motherhood is a rewarding feeling, so I am greatly thankful to my son Auro who made me a mother.”
Amitabh Bachchan won the Best Actor Award for Paa and, in his absence, Vidya Balan took the award on his behalf.

Gowtham Vasudev Menon walked away with laurels aplenty after his over the board debut with Minnale

The ace director’s latest flick Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya (VV) too is alleged to be churned out on the same lines and speaks about an ambitious assistant director Karthik (Silambarasan) wanting to make it big as a filmmaker. But things take an unexpected turn when he falls in love with a Jessie (Trisha); he’s ready to sacrifice his biggest dreams.

Though much hasn’t been divulged about this breezy romantic entertainer, sources reveal that Trisha flies to the US and much like Surya in Vaaranam Aayiram, Simbhu, the assistant director in the film, sets aboard a voyage in pursuit of his love.

For those who’ve already had enough of watching the young rough Silambarasan muttering ‘punch’ dialogues and man-handling 50 men at the same time, here’s something that promises to be unusual of Simbu.

Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya has some impressive tracks by A.R. Rahman that have already become a sensation.

Karthik Calling Karthik Movie Review's

Karthik Calling Karthik Movie Review's

timesofindia

Story: Karthik, the proverbial loser, would have passed his life unnoticed but for the phone call which changed his life one early morn. The caller, also calling himself Karthik, teaches our hero how to get the top job, the hot chick, the happening life, until our hero angers him...Is it downhill after that?

Film Review: Rock On, Luck By Chance and now Karthik Calling Karthik...seriously guys, Farhan Akhtar is turning out to be a revelation as an actor. As Karthik, the cube farm animal (read office nobody) who lives a drab life in a drab house doing drab work, he is absolutely stunning. His anguish at being unnoticed, exploited and squashed by all and sundry -- both in his personal and professional life -- hits you like a sledgehammer. As does his chutzpah, when he metamorphoses into the other, more savvy and socially adept Karthik who may be the nice and safe guy but definitely not the boring guy. Then, it is his quiet confidence and gentle aggression that make you sit up and watch, as he goes about conquering the very worlds that had earlier ignored him. Treat.

sify

eautifully textured and constructed, Karthik calling Karthik takes us breath-close to the central character, whom his new boss calls `a strange fellow`. Plagued by his brother's death as a child, an accident he holds himself responsible for, Karthik's (Farhan Akhtar) sleep is usually a disturbed one.

Years of counseling isn't helping either. Fired after being bullied at work; invisible to office crush Shonali (Deepika Padukone), Karthik contemplates ending it all. Just then, he receives a phone call, with his own voice at the other end. This voice tells him how to dissolve all of his problems and regain his life.
